How I approach murals:
1. Draw the scene on the wall with pencil
2. I usually work from the upper left down, making sure that the main features are where they need to be.
3. I use artist's acrylics because they have good coverage and dry fast (the fast dry feature is a must when painting in a kid's room)
4. Play some really good music while I'm working... another "must" :-)
5. Seal the mural with a coat of Liquitex Matte Varnish

Well sorry to see I've taken you with me in falling off of the earth! Love, love, love this mural! Now where are my paints, I haven't touched them since I moved them to my sewing room! I think I need to reorganize. LOL

This is fabulous!! I'm so envious of your grandson having this in his room. I have a real interest in lighthouses so this really got my attention. Looks great! and thanks for sharing about how you did it and the photos along the way.

Very nice Teresa! I like seeing how you went about it. I've never painted a mural. You did a great job with it and also with filling in your space. You have some pretty happy looking fellows. I bet they'll enjoy being at the beach!

Beautiful work! I painted a mural...several actually, in my sons room of a sea monster, pirate ship, light house, dolphins swimming. That was eleven years ago. For the last seven years, he has had the walls covered with posters! LOL. I hope yours sees the light of day for much longer!
