Fall Has Arrived!

Not much in the way of real fall weather yet... but a little taste of cool temps every now and then. Been a very busy summer around here, as I'm sure it has been in your corner of the world too. I've been enjoying spending time with my grandson who has gone from a 1 lb 4.5 oz preemie to a healthy, giggly seven month old who now weighs a little over 14 lbs! He's a miracle that's for sure. A lot of prayers went up on his behalf and each one was sincerely appreciated.

Posting pics of Colton below so you can see his progress.

Been busy on the art front too. I've participated in the Drawspace ATC trade each month. Love the small size of an ATC, and it gives me a chance to experiment without worrying that I might be ruining a painting in which I have a lot of time invested. Also done 50+ individually painted bookmarks that will be for sale at craft shows and local gift stores.

I'm noticing a difference in my approach to art and my expectations of the finished product. I was stuck in the "must slavishly reproduce the photo" mode for longer than I should have been. But I've noticed that for the last few months I'm straying farther and farther away from the original reference (unless it's a portrait) and also doing some art purely from memory and imagination. Yay! I'm breaking free from The Reference!

What a cheeky smile Colton has LOL

They grow so quickly don't they? my grand-daughter will be 2 years old on 31st (Halloween baby) and she's now a 'little girl' not a baby or toddler!

Love the loose style of working - particularly the berries/hips

Oh, such wonderful news about Colton. I'm glad he's doing so well, and that you get to enjoy being with him. Grandparents are soooo important and special in a child's life.

Lovely work, too--you've been busy! And, please, send your cooler weather down our way. I'm ready for summer to be OVER!

Your ATC's are very lovely, Teresa. I have yet to try these and not at all sure how I would cope with art so small. You're Grandson is indeed a miracle and I am sure, a joy! :) .

Teresa-
What a sweetie that baby is! I haven't been painting or blogging much, but happened to see your comments on my blog. Have been out of town a lot lately with my mom.
Love your new ATC's and bookmarks, too.

Dear Teresa - welcome back. Looks like you have been so busy this summer and your grandson is adorable. Won't Christmas be fun with a new little one in the family?? Your atc cards are wonderful. I have never tried my hand at doing these...may just have to experiment a bit. So glad to hear from you. God Bless

Heya. Grand to have you swing by, like the old days.

Loving the work here. The big orange flower is smashing. Is it a Nasturtium ? Blow the reference outta here.

Something a tutor once asked me when I was at college. With every piece ask yourself what you want to say about the subject. So don't just draw what you see, question what you see and what about it that connects with you, and then find a way to draw that.

Wow ... so much to see and catch-up on over here. Glad to see Colton growing! Wonderful to see your art pieces. I really have a fondness for the blueberries with the highlights. Your bookmarks look fantastic. Let me know if you have any extras of the sunshine that you would want to sell.
