"Winter Pleasures"

Here's what I've been (slowly) working on in between TMC's and the never-done to-do list!

8 x 10, watercolor.

When it was getting close to completion I emailed a version of this to several friends asking for a honest critique, and they responded with wonderful, constructive advice. Several made great suggestions - and I think I incorporated most of them. Made me realize that we art bloggers have a great resource in addition to books, workshops, dvd's etc.... the wonderful resource of fellow art bloggers! Thanks so much for your invaluable input!

P.S. The choice of subject matter for this painting will come as no surprise to Gary Keimig since I regularly leave comments on his blog reminding him of how lucky he is to have all that lovely snow in Wyoming every year. Not sure he always agrees with that point of view :-) If you haven't met Gary, click on his name to visit his art blog... you'll be glad you did. He's an awesome landscape artist and lives in a gorgeous part of the country.

Je serais ravie de recevoir une carte telle que la vôtre à l'occasion des fêtes de fin d'année.

Teresa, this decorative piece is so great! It will make a terrific holiday card. I love the edges as they are. The dots bring the eye to the main subject the window and curiosity brings you even further outside ("what is behind")...

I also visited Gary's blog. Super art, great artist!

Thank you for sharing,
Irina

Love this winter image - perfect for a holiday card! I'm really drawn to the combination of text and image - and I really like how you have arranged the prose around the window. The light coming through the window and bouncing off the desk makes the scene uplifiting - it gives it a positive spin.

The highest compliment I can give you is that it makes me feel cold (you know how much I hate snow and cold!)yet leaves with a warm and fuzzy feeling!

Well, done!

This is such a great Christmas card. You get two evoke two emotions at once, the cold, serene winter night, and the warmth of the interior. Great job!!

This is such a sweet picture! I would buy this on a box of greeting cards over any other design in the store! Wonderful, gentle use of color and composition.
