Two More TMC's

Two more Twenty Minute Challenge paintings:

"Candle" (you can tell a lot of thought went into that title ;-) was done last week and "Firs in the Snow" was done this morning.

Candle was simply more practice on the "get in, get it done, get out" philosophy.

Firs in the Snow was a little more specific. In this little exercise I was after accomplishing two goals:

1. Creating a soft, misty background using the wet in wet technique
2. Experimenting with a softer, more subdued palette than I normally use.

I like the softer palette and plan to work on that some more. Doing these TMC's is the perfect opportunity to try out new things, get in some uncomplicated practice... and just have fun painting!

Wonderful Teresa. It looks as though you have a couple of Christmas cards ready there! x

Both images make me think the seasons are a changing!! The warm glow of the candle speaks to both fall and winter, and the misty woodsy scene definitely speaks winter to me. Very nice images!!

Teresa-
I had seen the candle on TMC- but I love the snow, so difficult to make it look snowy! You are reminding me to do some more TMCs myself, they are so fun!

Firs is gorgeous - and I agree with Simone - both would make lovely greetings cards :)

Ah. Right after I sent you my email, I found your blog. Hadn't noticed I could click on your name. Glad to see your art, and will check in to get an in-depth look at your thoughts and work in the near future.
Twenty minutes is perhaps too great a challenge for me: I tend to work more slowly; but indeed it is great fun, concentrates the mind wonderfully, and promotes great freedom, looseness and clarity of technique. Good for you.

These are fantastic. Such a good idea. Thanks for sharing, sort of like sketching in ink, eh? :)

aren't quick paintings fun? Next you will be a master at doing quick-draws and entering western art shows. :)

I've enjoyed looking at all your 20 minute challenge paintings. Agree with Simone and Pat - you could use the snow scene as a greetings card - the leaf is lovely too:)

But I really love the Firs in snow. The soft dreamy look of it!
Good job

Hi Teresa.
Please keep the twenty minute paintings going, I think they are wonderful, especially the landscape in Snow. Well done Teresa, and all the best.
Vic.
