I am SO ready for Fall! I've about had it with gardening for this season. My enthusiasm for growing things has nosedived and I'm ready for a deliciously chilly frost! (Heck, let's be honest here... what I'd really like is to wake up one morning to a foot of snow in the yard :-)

As usual, I've kept a low blogging profile through the summer months...just not enough hours in the day to get around to everything. Didn't get much done in the way of art either, but I did purchase a watercolor instructional DVD entitled "Painting the Sea in Watercolor" by a delightful Canadian named Grant Fuller. Love his instructional style! Clear, easy to understand, and a gentle sense of humor. It's a pretty straight forward DVD, mostly basics really, but even so I still had several "A ha!" moments... specifically in the area of how much water to use.... which is something that's been hit and miss. The light bulb finally clicked on. 'Bout time!  I followed along with the sample painting, and my version of Mr. Fuller's painting is what you see above.

    Lovely piece, I especially like the trees and the reflections of sky in the water. Sorry to hear about the yen for frost and snow. My veggie harvesting days are just getting started here so I can't claim burnout just yet.

    That's gorgeous, Teresa! It sounds like a dvd that I could use. Somehow the lightbulb stays dim for me when it come to watercolor!

    I agree with Ann - please no snow for a goodly while - maybe a dusting at Christmas?

    Did you have any problems with Irene?

    You had an A Ha! moment for sure in the painting. It is just lovely. We are trying to decide when to go back to TX, we have a couple more weeks in the condo, but it is still over 100 at home. Jeepers. I can see why you are ready for some cool weather.

    Ahh those lightbulb moments!! Had a couple recently when I attended a 3 day Mike Sibley graphite workshop but could certainly do with a few more :-)

    Lovely painting - I especially like the reflected sky colour in the water.

    A lovely job, I liked the way you have handled the reflections which is always challenging with water colors. I was looking at one of your old mails when your comment for my recent post made its day! What a coincidence!

    That's gorgeous! I love that feeling when the lightbulb clicks! It doesn't matter that you followed the DVD, you created this with your own two hands... and it's awesome!

    How many colors one blue can have: you've mastered this one Teresa. Great job. I love when artists painting water with watercolor. Some can say it is easy: go ahead and try. You did terrific job here!

    This is a beautiful painting, Teresa! Congratulations!!! Looks to me like that DVD is extremely helpful. The reflections on the water is absolutely perfect. As far as Winter..please..not yet. We get hit pretty hard, here in NY. I love Summer and Fall...

    Teresa, I really like this. The colors are so soft. I especially like the yellow. Great job on the reflections.

    Oh, I love how this turned out! Like you, I disappeared from the internet for the summer - did some painting, but was mostly gone a lot. Glad to see you're still moving forward in your painting. I love painting from DVD's too.
